What is remarkable about Richard is that he has Asperger syndrome, which is a form of autism. Richard uses a combination of photography and software to create his unique pictures. Like this one of a local Bagshot scene.

“I’ve got a condition called, Aspergers Syndrome. Creating digital paintings, helps me emotionally.Taking photographs is another interest. The photographs are brought into the Ipad, for use as a template, for my paintings.
Being able to utilise an Ipad, is very empowering.
‘Asperger’s can make communication complicated but not when I paint – it’s less challenging. My hope is that one day my work will sell and raise awareness’.
I hope you enjoy viewing all of my work, as it means a lot”.

Bagshot Village Street Party for VE Day 70 years on ……

It’s that time of year again when Bagshot Village comes together and celebrates the very real sense of community that we have in Bagshot. It’s the Village Street Party celebrating 70 years since victory in Europe, this Saturday from 12 – 5, in Bagshot High Street.
We are known for our fun and fabulous street parties, so come along and bring all the family and enjoy the day come rain or shine.
Every business in the high street will be involved with lots of activities so make sure you check out the pubs and shops along the way.

Marie Curie Fields of Hope
In the autumn the local fundraising group for Marie Curie Cancer Care will plant a Field of Hope in the grounds of St Anne’s Church, Church Road. If you would like to donate money to buy bulbs in memory of a loved one then please print the order form attached and return it to St Anne’s Church Office, 45 Church Road, Bagshot. If we are closed, please put it through the letter box. Thank you.
Sandhurst Military Wives Choir
We are very excited because Sandhurst Military Wives Choir is coming to St Anne’s on Saturday 30th May at 7.30pm. perhaps you would like to come and join us? Tickets are £8 and include a glass of wine/soft drink. Tickets are available at the door.

This morning some of this group of smiling people set off on the long journey to Nepal, taking with them as much of your donations as they could possibly carry. The rest will be going later! Cheryl, (who is in the centre in the purple jumper), travelled to Gatwick airport this morning to wave them all off. It is unlikely that we will get much feedback once the group arrive at their destination, as communication from the remote areas is very limited. Your donations of items will make a significant difference in the short term to some families, who just over a week ago were getting on with their daily lives. The money donations will enable The Lisa May Foundation to source more items to help rebuild lives in the long term. Once again – thank you – you have made a difference.
A Very Humble ‘Thank you’ to Bagshot

Many, many thanks to all the wonderful people who kindly gave donated items or money to the Bagshot Village/Lisa May Foundation Nepal Earthquake Appeal these last few days . As I type the items of food, bedding and shelter, have all been collected from the The Cedar Tree, and are now being sorted and packed so they can begin their journey to Nepal with a group of local Nepalese doctors and volunteers on Sunday.Our thoughts are very much with them as they make this very tough and emotional journey to give help in a situation few of us can begin to imagine.
We have once again been overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of Bagshot Village – you are all truly amazing to say the least! We have now finished our collection of ‘goods’ for the time being, but we will continue to collect money in the special purple Lisa May cans around the village for a few more weeks. We envisage that our Bagshot Village campaign will finish at the end of June, but The Lisa May Foundation will continue to accept cash donations and continue to support the rescue work in Nepal for as long as it is needed.
On a separate note the wonderful Bagshot Infant School held a mufti day today and raised an astounding £650 for our appeal. This is an incredible amount of money and we are totally humbled by the generous donations by the children and their parents. They are all stars of the week!
A special mention should go here to Cheryl D’Cruz at the The Lisa May Foundation (now based at St. Anne’s House in Bagshot), who has coordinated so many aspects of this whole appeal and held it all together. She is a truly amazing person, who has probably had about 12 hours sleep this week. We should also be very proud of our very own Bagshot lad Nick Ransom, who as well as studying for his ‘A’ levels has produced three incredible videos for the Earthquake Appeal – (see them on the Lisa May Facebook page). Lots of us have been popping in and out and doing bits and pieces, but Cheryl and Nick are inspirational and totally dedicated to The Lisa May Foundation.

Petition to synchronise Traffic Lights on A30

I’ve started a petition on Surrey County Council’s website (http://petitions.surreycc.gov.uk/Congestion-A30/) to get the Highways Agency, or whoever is responsible for them, to better synchronise them in an attempt to get better traffic flow on the A30 through Bagshot at peak travel times. This will become even more relevant when Waitrose is completed as there will be a considerably greater amount of traffic turning on to the A30 from Waterers Way. If you’ve already signed the petition I apologise for bothering you and if you could share it with anyone else you know who regularly uses the A30 I would be grateful. I think we need in the region of 300 signatures to have the petition looked at by Surrey CC. Thanks Barry Woolven

To support the Bagshot Village/Lisa May Nepal Earthquake Appeal, there will be an ‘Open Mic Evening’ at The King’s Arms – Bagshot tonight starting at 8pm. If you can hold a tune, do a spot of magic, tell a joke, recite a poem, maybe even something else – you should get yourselves down there!! There will be collection cans ready to be filled and maybe a few prizes to be won. Thank you to Mark Gordon and his wonderful family and staff.
Bagshot Village with the Lisa May Foundation for Nepal Earthquake Appeal

Remember when we did the collection for the flood victims down the road?- well now we need to go a little further afield with our generosity. No doubt you will have all seen the reports coming from Nepal and as we have many members of the Nepalese community living in this area we wish to give their family and friends back in Nepal some Bagshot/ Surrey Heath support.
Please see below a message from Cheryl from The Lisa May Foundation, who incidentally are now based back in Bagshot. I am working with Cheryl to collect donations – not just money, which would be very welcome, but also items, which are going to be sent to Nepal in the next few days with a group of Nepalese doctors – most likely on THURSDAY. Nepal Earthquake Appeal – Via the Lisa May Foundation
Thousands of people in Nepal have been tragically affected by a devastating earthquake that struck the country on the 25th of April. Over 3,600 have sadly died, more than 6,500 are injured and thousands more are still missing.
