St George’s Day Celebration in Bagshot

st-george-2-imagebotSt George’s Day Celebration
After the success of last year’s party, we have decided to have a similar event, slightly lower key, but a celebration of our national day.
It is a joint event with St Anne’s Church, Bagshot Scouts and Bagshot Community Events, and will all take place at St Anne’s Church and the surrounding area.
There will firstly be a family church service at 10am.
This will be followed immediately by a Parade from the Scouting groups – St George is also their Patron Saint.
There will be light refreshments and cakes available, but you are very  welcome to bring a picnic.
Bagshot Concert Band are coming along to play some beautiful music and The Cedar Tree will also be setting up their ‘mobile bar’ and so some alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Everyone is welcome.
More details to follow but please put the date in your diary.

Dementia Action Alliance

A message from Maggie Martin – Home Instead

I’m creating a Dementia Action Alliance in the Bagshot, Windlesham and Lightwater area, so I’m looking for people who would be interested in being involved.

First Meeting next week 28th February 2pm at The Three Mariners

The first steps are to create a steering group & then start to identify steps we could take to make the three villages more dementia friendly. This is likely to include things like:

–          Information on local dementia services

–          Improved signs

–          Dementia Friendly services at the churches

–          Hairdresser / GP / Dentist appointments at quiet times

–          … anything else we can think of

I’m also planning to run Dementia Friends sessions in the area to help raise awareness in the local community. The sessions were developed by the Alzheimer’s Society & take about 45 minutes to run (they’re free).

Would you be interested or can you think of anyone else who would be interested either in joining the steering group or in hosting a Dementia Friends session ? The steering group isn’t going to be a huge commitment – probably just an hour or so a month.

A30-Camberley Public Consultation on Highways Improvements

Surrey County Council is consulting on proposals for highway improvements to the A30 and Camberley Town Centre including potential changes to the A30 bus lane.

The consultation is open until Sunday 9 April 2017 and during this period we are inviting the public, businesses and other organisations to find out more about the proposals online or at one of our public exhibitions.  It will be of particular interest to those who use the A30 at peak times or who regularly visit the Camberley Town Centre area. The proposed changes aim to reduce peak hour delays along the A30, maintain bus reliability and improve accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists on routes to and within Camberley town centre.

You can provide your feedback by completing a short questionnaire either online or at the exhibition.

Further information about the proposals, public exhibitions and the online questionnaire can be found at:  http://bit.ly/2dRrZyq

Surrey County Council staff will be present at all public exhibitions to help with questions about the proposals and consultation process:

Brush Party at The Cedar Tree

https://www.facebook.com/events/379715742404968/

cherry-blossom

Come to our Brush Party at The Cedar Tree, Bagshot on 2nd March and experience a great night out! It’s all about fun… get yourself a drink from the bar, settle down to your canvas and unleash your inner Van Gogh!

Our artist will walk you through creating your masterpiece. You’ll be delighted as your blank canvas transforms in only two hours, made all the better by a glass of wine or two!

You don’t need to bring anything apart from yourself… We provide everything… a 16” x 20” quality canvas, all the paint you need, brushes, aprons, music and the environment for you to have a great night out.

We are not sticklers, we are all for you mixing it up a bit… If you feel confident, you can interpret our instruction any way you wish… maybe you’d like to change the colours to suit your décor? We love it when you go ‘rogue’ – we might even learn a thing or two!

Please do note that your ticket price does not include food or drinks. Drinks can be purchased from the bar and food is also available up to 9pm.

The event starts at 7.00pm but please arrive at least 15 minutes early to get your seat and any drinks you may want etc. Our evenings usually last about 2 hours but times may vary.

Although we provide aprons, it might be worth wearing old clothes (just in case).

We look forward to seeing you for a great night out.

Please note: A Brush Party is not a traditional painting class. Music is played throughout the event.

Tickets available here     http://brushparty.co.uk/events/cherry-blossom-bagshot/
