Roary the Lion to open Bagshot Village Day!!!
‘Roary’ (short for Recycling Organics And Refuse) will be on hand to open the Bagshot Village Day at 1pm on Sunday – he will be coming along to say hello to all the children and make sure that we leave the BPFA as we found it …… bin bags at the ready!!!! Roary will be around for most of the afternoon, so do say hello to him.
It is now countdown to an afternoon of fun and games. There are approximately 50 stalls and activities booked in, many of which, represent local charities and groups from the village. If you love a tombola, there are several to have a go at including the main one for the BPFA, who are kindly hosting the event for Bagshot Events. This will be their way of raising much needed funds to keep the pavilion up and running for the whole community to enjoy. It is run by a very small but dedicated committee and they are looking to start a Friends of the BPFA, so please visit their stall.
We will be entertained by Bagshot Concert Band, Bagshot Infant School (May Pole Dancing) Bagshot Ballet (doing a scene from Swan Lake), music from Mike Barrett of Bagshot and Toxic Sofa from Bracknell.
The order is as follows – subject to weather ……. times are approximate ……..
Along with children’s rides, sweets and other goodies, there will be refreshments from ice cream to PImms, burgers to wraps and even some food and snacks with a Caribbean flavour …. and for the hard core, there will be coffee and cakes. There will be clothes and jewellery, smellies and sweeties, crafts and woodwork and lots of things to see and do! Waitrose staff from the new Bagshot store are also coming along to say ‘hello’ and maybe give out a few goodies.
If you do come by car, please park sensibly and make sure emergency vehicles have room to get past on the roads. There is limited parking at the pavilion itself, as we need to keep an area for our Blue Badge holders and those helping to put the day together. Emergency service vehicles also require a turning circle. so please take advise from those who are helping to keep the traffic moving.
Remember, this event is totally organised by volunteers, who do it because they love Bagshot and want everyone to have a happy and safe day. Please be patient if things go a bit wonky -timings may not be exact – things take a bit longer – and some stalls may not turn up, which is out of our control. Please come along and enjoy a community event organised by the community for the community……. and please please, let it be a dry day!!
Many thanks to everyone who has helped to put this day together. Kind regards Tina Carney

New Weekly Surgery with Cllr Ruth Hutchinson
Cllr Ruth Hutchinson is offering a weekly drop in surgery for local residents:
“I have decided to provide an opportunity for residents to drop in to the Old Library building High St Bagshot and speak to me on a Monday afternoon 3 pm onwards probably for an hour. Starting this Monday 1st June.
I will be around the information stand outside of the Community Partnered Library in the adjoining corridor inside the front door.
I am in the unique position of being the only Lib Dem Councillor in the whole of Surrey Heath and as my retiring colleague has in years gone by provided a Councillor’s surgery within the library setting I take an example from Meurig Williams.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Meuirig for all his diligent work on behalf of this community over the past 20 years as both a Parish Councillor and a Dual hatted Borough Councillor.
He will be missed by many residents and especially by me, his only colleague for the past four years.
We wish him and his wife Margaret a restful retirement.
Thank you to those who had faith in my ability and voted for me in the recent local Elections.
I am no longer standing as a member of Windlesham Parish Council as I was not returned in the election but I hope to liaise closely with my colleagues.
If residents have any problems to share or questions for me they can contact me on Bagshot 489991 or ruth.hutchinson@surreyheath.gov.uk” – Cllr Ruth Hutchinson
