Chapel Lane redevelopment – update

Dear Resident,

A planning application for redevelopment at Woodside Cottage, Chapel Lane, Bagshot has now been submitted to the local planning authority.  The proposals are for the following form of development:

“Redevelopment of the site to comprise 40 dwellings (1 x 1-bed, 14 x 2-bed, 18 x 3-bed, 6 x 4-bed and 1 x 5-bed) with 80 parking spaces and associated access, landscaping and provision of an area of Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANGs)”

Since the public exhibition the project team have been working hard to consider the comments that were received.  The team have given consideration to the following elements of the proposals:

  • The potential to add a footpath along the northern edge of the site was explored to assist with pedestrian movements along this part of Chapel Lane. However, due to the presence of trees and shrubs along this boundary, which are important for the character of the site, it has not been possible to include this footpath within the proposals.
  • The possibility of providing additional passing places along Chapel Lane has been assessed. To assist with the flow of traffic along this part of the road the main site access bellmouth into the development has been increased in size to provide this additional space.
  • Changes have been made to the site layout to avoid root protection areas of important trees and to move the bridge link northwards to avoid a coppiced beech tree.
  • Following the exhibition, additional traffic surveys were commissioned to further assess the traffic situation in the vicinity of the site
  • Following discussions with Surrey County Council the potential to move the vehicle accesses into the site further to the east was investigated. However, the presence of large Oak trees along this boundary and the need to retain them in the streetscene means that this is not possible

It is expected that the Council will be in a position to validate the planning application in the next few weeks and the period of 13 weeks in which they have to determine it will begin.

Kind Regards,

Outstanding Ofsted Award is a Hat Trick for Village Pre-Schools Limited

Outstanding_Colour_EYLittle Grove Pre-School in Bagshot, Surrey and Little Villagers Pre-School in Windlesham, Surrey, owned and managed by Karen Henderson-Williams, were both awarded Outstanding by Ofsted for the third time running this summer. Since the opening of Little Grove in 2000 and Little Villagers in 2006 both schools have been inspected by Ofsted three times and graded Outstanding on each occasion, with the latest inspections this summer being awarded Outstanding in all areas.

The 2015 Ofsted report for Little Grove includes the following quote from the Inspector “Leaders have an amazing capacity to praise children for tiny achievements in their personal, social and emotional growth.”

The 2015 Ofsted report for Little Villagers notes that “Staff are good humoured and quick to celebrate the joys of life. They create a nurturing, happy environment where children flourish.” Karen commented that she was thrilled by the accolades and recognition for both schools and added her appreciation for all the efforts of her staff, without whom this could not have been achieved.

089To celebrate the fantastic news, Karen held a tea party at each school for the children, parents and staff. Entertainment was provided by local entertainer Cookie the Clown and with lots of fun and giggles, both events were a wonderful celebration.

Both Pre-Schools are privately owned, offering children aged 2-5years a rich and stimulating environment, which supports their learning and development, both indoors and outdoors. This provides a positive framework to ensure the children develop in a happy and safe environment.

“We invite you to come and view our Outstanding Pre-Schools. We currently have spaces available in both schools.

Call 01276 473434 for Little Grove or 01276 473845 for Little Villagers to book a visit. Visit our websites http://www.littlegrove.co.uk / http://www.littlevillagers.co.uk and you can even find us on Facebook. We look forward to hearing from you!”

Owl Hunt – big sorry over mixed up dates!

Huge faux pas by Tina and the Owl Hunt ….. the poster said that closing date for forms was 10th November – although the owls are only out ovowler half term and were collected earlier this week. It should have been 3rd November and I sincerely apologise to the families who haven’t handed their forms in yet.
So, please still hand your form in at ALBOE and we will organise more prizes for the second batch of forms handed in by next Tuesday.
It was picked up by an eagle eyed participant …. we hadn’t even noticed as we had 3rd in our diaries …. so we have severely reprimanded ourselves
and will try harder next time

A very early Christmas Message from Fairy Nuff – the Bagshot Fairy!

Dear all

Now that thosefairy Halloween owls have vacated the village – I can now put my message out!

To see how you can get your Christmas Wish added to the fence around the Bagshot Christmas Tree open up the attached message below. The cards are now going out to  the local schools, pre-schools, nurseries, churches and Windle Valley Day Centre, but of course some children may be missed out if they attend schools out of the village, so please collect a blank from Sam at ALBOE or Bagshot Village Community Library.

Kind regards

Owl Hunt Update

IMAG0674********************Owl Hunt Update*********************
The Bagshot Owls have all been recaptured – including some of the clones – and are now safely back in their nest ready for a much needed rest! Thank you to Nick Dorrington who ensured they were all safe and sound! The prize winners have been notified by text and/or email and there will be some messages going out for runners up later. The main prizes (pictured) have been kindly donated by Waitrose (Bagshot) and Sam at ALBOE – so many thanks to them.
Bagshot Events thank everyone for taking part and hope everyone had a great time looking for the owls. There were a few donations, and so this will be sent off to Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue to cover their costs looking after real owls (and other wildlife) who have had mishaps.
Thank you once again … Tina C
