Saturday 23rd April is the date
The event starts at 2pm with Bagshot Concert Band
At approximately 2.15 – 2.30, the Bagshot Scouting Groups will be Parading down College Ride and Church Road (using the footpath)as part of their St George’s Day celebration. They will then come together to renew their Vows and hoist their flags.
At approximately 3.15 Marcus Wills (former Commander of the Queen’s Flight) will give a short address of his service to the Queen. This will be followed by a special Blessing from Rev Andreas for the Queen’s birthday and for Bagshot. The young children of Bagshot will then be asked to come along waving flags (and hopefully wearing some lovely crowns) and bring the birthday cake to the party. This will be followed by a Loyal Toast ( a shot of Prosecco or juice/squash will be provided), cutting of the cake and Bagshot will sing Happy Birthday to dear Ma’am’.
During the whole event, Bagshot Community Pre-school will be having a wonderful cake stall, so please bring some pennies to support them, The Cedar Tree will be bringing their very popular mobile bar, Bagshot Band will be playing and hopefully some other musical talents will be coming along too. The Scouts and Guide groups will be operating some fun stalls and we are hoping some funfair rides can also make it. Frenchies Ice Cream should also be there for a special treat and of course tea and coffee will also be available.
Important points to bring to your attention.
Please note, apart from cakes, ice cream, drinks from the bar, tea and coffee, no other food is available to purchase, so please bring your own picnic or party food.
Please bring all drinks in non- glass containers where at all possible. No drinking glasses are allowed on the street. Thank you
As this is a community event, we will be bringing as many tables and chairs to the event as we can muster and these will be lined up on the road for you to use. Hopefully, you will meet people from the village and make new friends. Sadly at this stage we cannot reserve tables/chairs, so it will be first come first served. You are welcome to bring your own and set up around the event.
As a consequence, Church Road from the bottom gate of the church to Vicarage Lane will be closed to through traffic from 11am to 6pm. There will still be access to Mill Close and all residencies along Church Road, apart from those who are actively involved in the event. There will be traffic management signs to remind you.
Parking in the area will be restricted. Blue Badge holders, will be able to park in the area outside the Church Centre (using the top gate nearest to Vicarage Lane). Everyone else, please walk if at all possible, and if you do drive, please park responsibly.
As with all events like this, we can always do with help on the day. The tea and coffee stall will need to be manned from about 1.30pm – 5pm, marshals to help with directing traffic … and folk to tidy up as we go along. Please send an email to events@bagshotvillage.com if you would like to volunteer, even if just for an hour. We will be setting up the road from about 9am – so please just turn up and we will give you a job! Many hands make light work!!! Also at the end of the day, please take as much waste away with you and maybe help to pack away a few tables and chairs and get them back to their destinations. Thank you
In case of really inclement weather, we will still be holding the event using the church and Parish Rooms – so still come along!!
Kind regards
Tina Carney
